Dear Santa I'm writing a letter, something's been on my mind
I'm wondering how do you do it? Where do you find the time?

Dear Earl, Thank you for writing. Those are questions I'm often asked
Although I look old and rather round I'm actually kind of fast
But it takes more than speed to make it from Junea to Japan
I can do it because you love me and because you believe I can

Dear Santa I'm writing a letter there's something I'd like to know
Where do you live? Where do you work? Is there really a North Pole?
How do you make all those toys, and dolls and games and clothes?

Dear Rose, I'm glad that you wrote to me. Now I'm writing back to you
I live and I work all over the world from the North Pole to Spain to Peru
I have lots of help making the gifts but you're also a part of the plan

I know you work hard all year long, do you ever find time to relax?
Make sure you take a vacation, play baseball or go for a swim

Dear Slim, I enjoyed your letter, it was real nice of you to ask
I do work hard but I play some too. If you don't time goes too fast!
Next summer on vacation if you see a fat bearded man with a tan

Suggested Activity: Write a "Dear Santa" Letter

The following activity was submitted by Kathleen Gronert, a first grade teacher from New Jersey. I have taken the text below from her email to me. Thanks, Kathleen

Each year I try to get my first graders to write a letter to Santa that's more like your song than just a list of things they want. We started the activity this year by listening to the song "Dear Santa." What a difference it made! The children loved the song and it really inspired them to write caring letters to Santa.
